Clear Middletown Center is bad for Middletown

Some observations on the Middletown Town Council Sept. 16, 4-hour meeting: As expected, the majority of speakers from the audience offering public commentary voiced their opposition to the “Middletown Center” proposal, and this sent a clear message that the residents were speaking with one unified voice. I was struck by how many different reasons there are to be opposed and the one common denominator is the fact it is bad for the town and simply not wanted. I would like to thank all those who spoke last Tuesday evening. I hope they come back, with many friends, family and neighbors, when the Town Council is expected to vote on the developer’s zoning change requests that allow commercial development over the entire 15 acres.
