Fuelling speculations over the post of Director General of Police (head of the state force), DGP Harpreet Singh Sidhu (1992-batch IPS officer) has been repatriated to Punjab.

He had requested to move back. An order issued stated, “Premature repatriation of Harpreet Singh Sidhu, IPS (PB:1992), posted as Additional Director General (ADG) ITBP to his parent cadre.”

An Under-Secretary with the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued these orders:

"The undersigned is directed to refer to Indo-Tibetan Border Police on the subject mentioned above and to convey the approval of competent authority for premature repatriation of Shri Harpreet Singh Sidhu, IPS(PB:1992), Additional Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police(ITBP) to his parent cadre with immediate effect, at his own request, under pro
