A military veteran charged with killing his father-in-law in August told a 911 dispatcher he was acting in self-defense, according to the recently released calls.

Calvin Jernard Foster Jr., 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jamie Jones, 53.

According to a probable cause affidavit, around 5:15 p.m. Aug. 15, Foster allegedly shot Jones four times with a shotgun after Jones went to Foster's Poplar Drive home to mediate an argument between his son-in-law and daughter.
