FORMER Lib Dem leader and Olympic sprinter Lord Menzies Campbell has died aged 84.
Current party leader Sir Ed Davey described Lord Campbell - known as Ming - as "a dedicated public servant, a tireless champion for Fife , St Andrews and the UK, and a true Liberal giant".
The former MP for North East Fife died in London after a period of respite care.
He was first elected to the Commons in 1987, and became most associated with foreign affairs.
Campbell was a prominent critic of Tony Blair 's decision to back the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
He had a brief spell as Lib Dem party leader almost 20 years after first being elected to Westminster from 2006, aged 64.
A statement on the party's X account said: "Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.
