Chandigarh, September 26, 2025: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha witnessed high drama on Friday, the opening day of the special session, as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators, including ministers, staged a protest against the Narendra Modi government over flood relief funds.

Carrying placards inside and outside the House with the slogan “ਮੋਦੀ ਜੀ ਦਾ 1600 ਕਰੋੜ ਦਾ ਜੁਮਲਾ” (Modi ji’s ₹1,600 crore bluff), the MLAs accused the Centre of neglecting Punjab’s demands in the aftermath of recent floods.Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the state government had requested a package of ₹20,000 crore, but the Centre announced only ₹1,600 crore.
