It won’t be easy and they need some help to make it happen, but when you consider where the Yankees were in the standings less than two weeks ago — not to mention the vibe around this club during their lengthy summer skid a few months back — it’s remarkable that this is even a possibility.

The Yankees and Blue Jays are both tied for the top spot in the AL East with three games remaining in the regular season. Both teams won on Thursday night, with the Yankees finishing off a sweep of the White Sox at Yankee Stadium, so nothing changed in the standings.
