James Van Der Beek was recently forced to pull out of a Dawson's Creek reunion organised in his honour and to support F Cancer after falling ill amid his battle with colorectal cancer.

Instead, he surprised fans with a heartfelt video message that played during the New York event.

While he wasn't able to be there, his beloved wife of 15 years Kimberly was – watching on from the audience with their kids, honouring her husband amid his ongoing cancer battle.

Last year, when the actor announced his cancer battle, she was one of the first people to comment publicly and has remained by his side as he navigates the challenges of the diagnosis.
