RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Reno Dr. Samuel R. Chacon was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 24, after a grand jury returned an indictment charging him with health care fraud and eight counts of making false statements related to health care matters, according to a news release from Sigal Chattah, the acting United States attorney for Nevada.

The obstetrician and gynecologist’s trial date is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18.

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners revoked his license on Friday, June 6. It will be in effect for five years. His license has been suspended since Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, for not providing standard of care to his patients.

Chacon is also facing malpractice lawsuits.

If Chacon is convicted, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
