Chicago police have opened a homicide investigation after a South Loop Hotel employee found a man shot to death inside one of the hotel’s rooms Thursday afternoon, according to a police report obtained by the Tribune.
An employee of the hotel, located in the Douglas neighborhood at 11 W. 26th St., making a room service call found the man, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, with a single gunshot wound beneath the ear on the bathroom floor around 12:35 p.m. Thursday, the report stated.
Officers at the scene found a bullet hole in the headboard of the bed and a single shell casing, according to the report. A man in a neighboring room told police he’d seen an unknown woman leaving the room around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, saying “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
