Intellectual thriller movies are films that the audience has to pay a little more attention to if they want to know what’s going on. They rely more on brains than brawn to suck viewers in, causing fans to think closely about events as they unfold. Shutter Island, Inception, and Memento are great examples of intellectual thrillers, as is director Darren Aronofsky's debut feature that was released in 1998. Though Requiem for a Dream is probably the movie fans think of most when they hear the director's name, they shouldn’t overlook the one that came before it, which is set to stream for free this October.
