ST. LOUIS — A Tennessee man who came to St. Louis for a party at Ballpark Village hit a pedestrian downtown Monday, then dragged the screaming man for at least a block under his SUV, authorities say.

Cory Nonda Aiono, 32, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and leaving the scene of an accident.

The victim, a 55-year-old man, was crossing the street at Chouteau Avenue and South 4th Street when he was struck by a vehicle about 9:25 p.m. Monday, police said.

The victim was stuck in the SUV's undercarriage and dragged about one block north along South 4th Street, police said. At Gratiot Avenue, he became dislodged and was run over before the SUV raced away, police said.
