GOLF fans waking up to watch the Ryder Cup were furious with the television coverage.

New York opened its doors to fans on Friday morning for the 45th edition of the pulsating tournament.

Action began shortly after 7 am ET at a raucous Bethpage Black in Long Island.

But golf fans who woke up early quickly grew tired of the television coverage.

Former US Open champion Graeme McDowell was among those left angry.

McDowell hit the winning putt for Europe in the 2010 Ryder Cup.

And he said, "Think we are on the 5th commercial break.

"May have to flip on the @SkySports version. Any better?"

McDowell's message was posted on X at 7.47am, shortly after the third game of four teed off.

Fans tuning in agreed with the former major champion.

And so did PGA Tour star Byeong Hun An.
