Thousands of people protesting out on the streets of Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital were met with rubber bullets, tear gas and then a curfew to disperse the crowds.
Protestors are angry about water shortages, power cuts, and accuse the government and authorities of failing to manage basic resources.
Street protests appear to be the embodiment of a movement driven mainly by young people which has been growing on social media. The online movement is a symbol of youth led defiance and anger at corruption.
