SABINE COUNTY, Texas — The body of a college student who went missing on the Toledo Bend Reservoir has been recovered.

According to a news release, 21-year-old Peyton Hughes was pre-fishing for a Bassmaster Kayak Series event when he was reported missing. Hughes was enrolled at Kentucky's Campbellsville University.

According to the United Cajun Navy, Hughes' body was recovered early Friday morning. Hughes' mother confirmed the news via social media.

Sabine County Game Warden Ryan Svehla confirmed to CBS19 his body was recovered at around 7:15 a.m.

"Our thoughts continue to be with his family, friends, teammates and fellow students at Campbellsville University during this difficult time," he said."
