Physicality is a core trait of any sport, and for the Emporia Spartans soccer team, they learned that in their matchup against the Topeka High Trojans. In a battle as old as time, the Spartans would edge out the Trojans for a 1-0 win, but it would be a war on the EHS pitch for 80 minutes. The win would move the Spartans to 7-2 on the year.
It wouldn’t start as a war, though, as through the first 20 minutes, the Spartans would create opportunities offensively but would miss said chances. Senior Kevin Magana would hit the crossbar on a shot, and junior Brayden Sailer would have a shot saved on a breakaway chance.
