AUSTIN (KXAN) -- In a memo from Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax to department directors, the city manager unveiled a new initiative that looks to consolidate and streamline services that overlap between departments.

"In an effort to reimagine and improve how we provide services such as Human Resources, Facilities Management, Financial Services, Budget, Capital Delivery Services, Communications, Fleet, Equity & Inclusion, and Grants Management, the City is launching the Shared Services Optimization process. While we already operate with elements of a shared services model, these systems have evolved inconsistently across departments. This has resulted in duplication, inequities, and varied experiences for staff," the memo said.
