Sir Keir Starmer has pledge to spend £5billion to save the British high street following decades of "decline".
The Prime Minister said: "For too long, people have watched their towns and streets decline powerless to stop boarded-up shops and neglected parks. That ends now."
£1.5billion of this figure was previously pledged earlier this year to 75 of the country’s most deprived neighbourhoods.
The total £5billion plan aims to see neighbourhoods share long-term funding to restore parks, reopen closed shops and boost the local economy.
It comes just as high-profile chains including Poundland, Trespass, Sports Direct and Starbucks have all announced looming shutdowns.
The escalating rate of shop closures is being linked to tough economic conditions, with factors such as the hi
