GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After two officers shot and injured a man who allegedly charged at them with a knife Thursday, the Grand Rapids Police Department says it will not release video of the shooting at this time.

In announcing its decision Friday, the police department cited "the family's concerns" and desire for privacy.

“My commitment has been to transparency in officer-involved shootings since day one,” GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom said Friday in a statement. “In this case, we must also take into account the privacy of the individual, who is expected to continue to recover from his injuries, and his family.
