The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert on Thursday evening for 17-year-old Caden Speight.

On Friday at noon, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said the teen "remains missing and is believed to be endangered," but that the original claim appears to be not true.

Speight was last seen in the area of the 12800 block of SW Highway 484 in Dunnellon. He was wearing an unknown colored T-shirt and blue jeans.

FDLE said Speight might have been taken by or was in the company of four unknown males, but determined that is likely not true.

"Detectives obtained information and collected evidence that are unsupportive of the initially reported facts," MCSO said in an update on Facebook .
