No one knows Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson better than the actors who play them. Just ask them.

Chris Meloni posted on X that he ad-libbed the line that sent Benson and Stabler fans spiraling after the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Season 27 premiere Sept. 25.

In the episode, Meloni's character reunites with longtime partner Benson (Mariska Hargitay) after the death of their former captain, Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) .

After commiserating over disliking funerals and losing friends, the beloved duo ponder on their past multiyear partnership under Cragen.

“Not that you can go back and not that I’d want to, but — we had a pretty good run there for a minute,” Stabler says.

“We still do,” Benson answers. “Just different.”
