Water quickly flooded Northeast 134th Street after a 12-inch pipe burst this morning, closing the road near Salmon Creek Avenue, according to Clark County Fire District 6.

It was unclear when 134th Street would re-open, Fire District 6 spokesman Dave Schmitke said in a news release. In the meantime, drivers will need to find alternate routes.

The water leak was reported about 9:50 a.m. Clark Public Utilities received calls from customers in the area reporting low water pressure, including nearby Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, Clark Public Utilities spokesman Dameon Pesanti said.

Crews quickly isolated the water main break and worked to restore the burst pipe, he said.

“In any water system, pipes bursting is not an uncommon thing,” Pesanti said.
