Pennsylvania American Water on Friday afternoon advised its customers in a Northampton County development to boil their water .
The advisory affects about 28 customers in the Berry Hollow Development, east of Route 611 in Lower Mount Bethel Township.
“Pennsylvania American Water experienced a loss in positive water pressure on Friday, September 26 due to an issue with a pump,” the advisory states. “A loss of positive water pressure is a signal of the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through backflow by back-pressure or back-siphonage.
“As a result, there is an increased chance that the water might contain disease-causing organisms.”
