It's no secret much of WNY is in the midst of a very dry September. The Rochester Airport has picked up a paltry 0.30" of rain thus far (Rochester averages a little over 3" of rain in September). We only have a handful of days before October, and with no rain currently in the forecast through at least early next week, it's likely that 0.30" total will stand.
That will place this September at #2 all-time for driest on record. We end second (and only by 0.01") to September of 1960, which would make this Rochester driest September in 65 years. Drought conditions continue to plague the region & the immediate forecast into early October continues to lean generally drier than average.
