PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man will spend more than a decade in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
The US Department of Justice says 40-year-old Matthew Miller was sentenced Wednesday to 200 months, or about 16-and-a-half years, for possessing more than 50 grams of meth with the intent to distribute it.
Prosecutors say Miller refused to comply with an officer’s order during a traffic stop in September 2024, where he was a passenger, with an officer seeing Miller attempt to destroy a large amount of purported meth by dumping it out of baggies.
After Miller was taken into custody, officers found about 55 grams of meth and marijuana in and around the vehicle and on Miller’s person. Prosecutors say Miller was responsible for about 257 grams of a mixture and substance containing m
