SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - The Southwick Police Department has issued an advisory due to a cyanobacteria bloom observed on Congamond Lakes.

On Friday, the police stated that the presence of blue-green algae had been observed on the Middle Pond of Congamond Lakes. The advisory warns that the water is unsafe for people and pets, and activities such as swimming, jet skiing, and fishing should be avoided. The Board of Health is actively monitoring the situation and will lift the advisory once it is deemed safe.
