TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Tempe police announced the arrest of the man they say is responsible for writing “Penis Man” on buildings in Tempe .

According to the department, Tempe PD officers arrested 36-year-old Tanner Ballengee on Thursday in Phoenix. He faces two misdemeanor counts of criminal damage after police said he admitted to being behind the graffiti.

The arrest comes after a string of “Penis Man” taggings started popping up around the city recently. There were at least a dozen reports in Tempe and Phoenix.

While the taggings weren’t captured on video, detectives said they were able to link “Ballengee’s involvement in two of the cases,” police said. It is not clear yet exactly how detectives tracked Ballengee down before making the arrest.
