A small airplane with two people on board crashed near Wickenburg Municipal Airport early on Sept. 25, according to federal aviation officials.

The aircraft, called an Alpha Trainer, crashed around 6:45 a.m. south of the airport, which is approximately 70 miles northwest of Phoenix, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Two people were on board, but their conditions were unknown, the FAA said.

Investigators were still working on the crash, according to the FAA. The plane's registration number on its tail was not available.

Pipistrel, the manufacturer of the Alpha Trainer, described it as an aircraft that's "perfect" for flight training, according to the company's website.
