On the eve of the one-year anniversary of the remnants of Hurricane Helene’s arrival in South Carolina, state and local leaders gathered at Jones Gap State Park to celebrate the collaboration between citizens, companies and government agencies to help the state recover.
The widespread devastation left in the storm’s path affected infrastructure, homes and businesses and left mountains of debris — much of which has taken the past year to address.

Among the gathered officials who spoke on Helene’s impacts and recovery efforts was Greenville native Maj. Gen. Robin Stilwell, the state’s adjutant general.
