The Greenville Symphony Orchestra’s Oct. 4-5 concerts spotlight what may be the most unique season-opening program in the orchestra’s 78-year history.
The performances feature all film music by American composers, including much-loved scores by John Williams from “E.T.,” “Jaws” and “Jurassic Park.”
The program, “Hollywood Retrospective,” opens the Greenville Symphony’s “American Season,” a year of orchestral programs dedicated to American composers or works inspired by America.
“I think there’s no better way to open our ‘American Season’ than by celebrating the music of Hollywood over the past century,” said music director Lee Mills. “We’ve got music from every decade, beginning with the 1940s. It’s a great look back at some of the greatest music that has been written for cinema.”
