C.J. Gardner-Johnson is available again. But this time Howie Roseman can't bring him back.

Gardner-Johnson, who has had two separate one-year stints with the Eagles – during the 2022 NFC title season and the 2024 Super Bowl season – was released by the Texans on Tuesday in what was reportedly a non-football move.

For the record, the NFL's constitution and bylaws prohibit the Eagles from re-signing Gardner-Johnson. According to the “Reacquisition of Traded Player” section, a team can’t re-sign a player it traded for two years if the player hasn’t been on the team he was traded to for at least four regular-season games.
