KANSAS CITY, Mo. — While Kansas City and 10 other cities across the United States continue to prepare for FIFA World Cup matches, President Donald Trump warned that the cities must ensure safety before the matches take place.

Trump said that if cities aren't deemed safe enough to host World Cup matches, they simply won't happen.

“If I think it’s not safe, we’re going to move it out,” Trump said in the Oval Office after being asked about World Cup host cities that oppose his immigration and crime crackdowns.

It's unclear whether Trump has the authority to actually change, cancel or reschedule World Cup matches.
