NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A truck was stolen in front of one Northland family's house on Monday night, and their video doorbell caught it all on camera.

“Within five minutes, they were gone, and the two of them drove off,” said Sarah Welch.

“So, I mean, obviously, they don't turn the lights on or anything. I mean, they know what they're doing.”

What the thieves didn’t know was that the truck belonged to Sarah’s son, Ethan. He’s currently at boot camp after enlisting in the Army in the summer.

“He signed up while I was at work,” Sarah said.

“Sent me a text and said, ‘I'm swearing in!’”

Sarah says Ethan worked hard to save up for the 2004 Dodge truck.

“He worked nights, late to 1 a.m. and then went to church and played the guitar the next day,” she said.
