NEW ALBANY, Ohio — U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, is demanding answers from Intel over repeated delays at its massive semiconductor project in Licking County, calling the lack of progress a potential betrayal of taxpayers.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Moreno said Ohioans deserve transparency about the $20 billion project that was once called the largest economic development investment in state history. The New Albany complex was initially slated to open in 2025, but Intel has since pushed that date back several times, most recently to 2030.

"It is my responsibility to ensure that the ratepayers and taxpayers in the state of Ohio are not being taken advantage of and to ensure that this investment is not a charade or, worse, potential fraud," Moreno wrote.
