BOSTON —

After more than four decades at the heart of WCVB's commitment to community, Karen Holmes Ward is calling it a career.

Karen started at the station in 1981 and retires as the director of public affairs and community services. She was also the host and executive producer of "CityLine."

For decades, she has moved easily among actors, governors, mayors and more, interviewing everyone from Jesse Jackson to the late Chadwick Boseman.

Karen has also been a mentor to countless young journalists, including one who shared a powerful message about turning on the TV and seeing her there.
