First Alert 4 digs into St. Louis City’s delay implementing Safe Haven Baby Box

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As Safe Haven Baby Boxes expand across Missouri, there is a hold up on getting one in the regions largest city.

Earlier this week First Alert 4 reported on a baby surrendered to the baby box in O’Fallon, Missouri . That was the third baby surrendered anonymously to a Safe Haven Baby Box in the state. The first two surrenders were also in our region, at the baby box in Mehlville .

Brittany Haskin lives in St. Louis City and said hearing about the baby boxes in our region, we need one in the city.

“It’s very hard for young mothers. I was a young mother. I had my first baby at 16 years old and my second son at 17. It was really hard. Especially me being a single parent mother at the time. I had no help and resources,” Haskin said.
