Boise State, Appalachian State connected as underdog programs

The Boise State football team’s only prior meeting with Appalachian State came in the 1994 NCAA Division I-AA quarterfinals, a game won 17-14 by the Broncos.

That December 3, 1994, matchup came more than 12 years before both schools would get what would arguably be their programs’ defining upset victory.
