Frustration is rising over ongoing construction in the French Quarter.

Work on Decatur and St. Peter streets is making it harder for locals and tourists to reach shops, and businesses say sales are down. Advertisement

“It's so ugly, and they've come here to see our beauty and something were proud of,” said tour guide Libby Bollino.

While sharing the beauty of the historic French Quarter with visitors, Bollino and her group are met with the unpleasant sights and sounds of construction.

"We bring people down to look at it, and we say, 'Well, normally, this is a really beautiful building, but right now it's blocked by this construction,'” said Bollino.

City leaders say it's a part of ongoing efforts to improve aging infrastructure.
