MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A volunteer fire department in the Halfmoon Fire District received additional funding on Friday. The Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department said they were awarded two grants totaling over $700,000.

The grants came from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The department said they'll use the money to buy new personal protective equipment and to invest in recruitment, retention and training.
