ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An armed man was arrested after barricading himself in a northeast Atlanta home on Friday afternoon, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Around 12:15 p.m., Atlanta police said they responded to a call about a criminal trespass at a home in the 2100 block of Melante Drive NE, located in the Lindridge-Martin Manor neighborhood.

Officers learned that a man armed with gun had unlawfully entered the home.

Police set up a perimeter and called in the SWAT team.

“Multiple attempts were made to contact the suspect using a loudspeaker, but those efforts were unsuccessful,” police said in a statement.

SWAT officers entered the home after obtaining a search warrant, according to police.
