ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Stone Mountain Mayor Beverly Jones is suing her city council in a fight to keep her seat as mayor.
She believes the accusation against her that led council members to initiate her removal from office was a misunderstanding.
“I am not taking this personally against the constituents. They voted for me to be in office and I will continue to do my job until the day that I’m no longer in office,” said Jones.
Jones is now hoping a judge will stop her removal from office.
“This is not appropriate for you to deprive the citizens of the candidate that they have voted for, put in place,” said her attorney, Mark Anthony Scott.
