The future for about 80 non-unionized workers at a Tillsonburg auto-parts plant remains uncertain after a massive fire destroyed part of the facility this week.

The blaze ripped through Marwood International’s Plant 3 on Townline Road on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m., halting production and causing a preliminary damages estimated at $10 million , fire officials said. No injuries were reported.

The plant remains closed while the building department, Electrical Safety Authority, public works, the company’s insurance company and other agencies evaluate the damage, said Tillsonburg fire prevention officer Geoff Hayman.

About 80 workers across two shifts are affected by the shutdown of the 930-square-metre (10,000-square-foot) plant, Hayman said.
