KAHULUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - September is National Suicide Prevention Month and organizations on Maui are working hard to raise awareness.

Members of Kane Connection and S.O.S. (Survivors of Suicide and suicide loss) held signs near the corner of Kaahumanu and Puunene avenues in Kahului on Friday afternoon to let those suffering know they are not alone.

“If we can help one person, the message is that you are not alone. You’re not alone in your thoughts. You’re not alone in the struggle, and we’re here to listen,” said Spring Taylor who lost her brother Casey to suicide in 2019.

“People think what is this sign waving going to do? It doesn’t only open doors for people going through the mentality of wanting to commit suicide, but it also opens doors for people to be okay with somebody talking
