PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Panthers got back in the win column Friday with a 56-0 victory against the Powell County Pirates on homecoming.

The Panthers wasted no time getting on the board. Jayden Justice started the scoring for Pikeville with a rushing touchdown to make it 7-0.

Chris McNamee’s defense was just as stellar, with Cole Slone getting an interception and returning it the distance to increase the Panthers’ advantage, 14-0.

After a three and out from Powell County, the Panthers drove down the field once more. The possession ended with JJ Reynolds finding Harrison Fields for the score, 21-0.

Pikeville heads to Somerset to take on Southwestern next. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3.

Powell County returns to action on Oct. 3 at Magoffin County for a 7:30 kick.
