When Line Mountain’s two-way star senior Max Johnson went down early in the first quarter of arguably the Eagles’ biggest game of the 2025 regular season on Friday night, there was no silver lining.

Losing a top pass rusher and physical runner going against an immensely athletic and talented Steel-High squad simply wasn’t part of the ideal script for LM.

But earlier in the week, head coach Brandon Carson had emphasized to the group that the result of this contest wasn’t what he was looking for from his unbeaten Eagle squad. Instead, he was looking for heart.

Bolstered by a lot of that from running back/linebacker Kaden Dunkelberger in company, his team provided that, and provided the result, holding off a late Roller rally to defeat Steel-High 36-34 at Glenn Ressler Field, moving to 6-0
