IOLA, Texas (KBTX) - Iola gave its homecoming crowd plenty to cheer about, storming past Milano, 53-6, in its district opener. The Eagles struck first with an early, but the Bulldogs responded with 53 unanswered to close the game.

Why did Iola win? The Bulldogs controlled the line of scrimmage offensively and had their way in the run game. This later opened up opportunities for their aerial attack to stretch the field.

While Milano quarterback Ayden Fernandez had some success finding his top target Jesus Reyes, those connections were too inconsistent to sustain success.

Standout performance: Iola punished Milano with a bevy of backs throughout the night. Austin Calvillo and Adrian Garrett were workhouses on the ground, while Brody Vaughn stretched the field in the passing game.
