BIRMINGHAM – The Farmington Falcons took over sole possession of first place in the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division with a 42-19 thrashing of the Seaholm Maples on Friday night.

The Falcon defense and special teams stole several possessions on the night, and the offense clicked for some big plays for Farmington, who came into the night tied with Seaholm atop the division standings.

The key sequence in the game came in the third quarter. With Farmington leading 14-13 and just over five minutes to play, the Falcons were forced to punt. But the Maples muffed the punt, and Newton Brown recovered for the Falcons at Seaholm’s 46-yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, the Falcons called a trick play and Christian Gillings hit a wide-open Herschel McCormack-Reamer for a touchd
