The stage is set as the Las Vegas Aviators will play the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. The Aviators are the Athletics ' top affiliate, while the Shrimp feed the Marlins.

Jacksonville won the International League Championship Series in three games, defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Game 3 was one-sided until late with the Jumbo Shrimp winning 7-4.
