TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hurricane Humberto significantly strengthened over Friday night and is now at a Category 4, with the potential for further development, the National Hurricane Center said.

As of 5 a.m. on Saturday, the storm was 375 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and was moving west at around 6 mph. With maximum sustained wind speeds of 145 mph, Humberto sits in the middle range for Category 4 and could turn into a Category 5 over the weekend.

NHC predicts that the storm will begin picking up speed on Monday as it starts turning to the northwest and then to the north later in the day. Hurricane-force winds extend 25 miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds extend up to 105 miles.
