GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Veterans gathered outside the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island on Friday to celebrate the 75th year of the building and its operations.
Thomas vonAhlefeld, the site manager for Grand Island and Lincoln, was a speaker at the event and said that center had transitioned to more of an out-patient focus over the last 75 years. This was done in three ways; With there Community Living Center, the Transition Housing Complex and the MOPAC Van.
The Community Living Center can help veterans with rehabilitation, long-term care, and hospice.
The Transition Housing Complex is used to help veterans who are dealing with abuse problems, and getting them the help they need to get back on their feet.
