New rules over who will get Winter Fuel Payments, worth up to £300, this year have been decided.

The money will be paid out to around nine million pensioners from November to help with energy bills in the run-up to Christmas .

But some older people won't be eligible for the cash.

Qualifying rules have been redrawn for this year following controversy in 2024 about how Winter Fuel Payments were awarded, as millions on low incomes missed out.

So it will effectively mean a boost of up to £300 for those who missed out last year.
